What is BitLife?

BitLife is a text-based life simulator where you live out a whole life using simple choices. Each year you decide what your character does — study, work, date, commit crimes, have a family, or chase money — and your choices shape their future, from childhood to old age.

How to Play BitLife

You start life as a baby in a random country with basic stats like Happiness, Health, Smarts, and Looks. Tap Age each year to move forward and read the events that happen. When choices appear, pick the option you want and watch how it changes your life.

As you grow up, use activities to manage your stats. Going to the doctor, gym, and vacations can help your Health and Happiness. Studying hard, visiting the library, and doing well in school improve your Smarts, which can lead to scholarships and better careers later.

Money becomes important when you reach adulthood. You can get jobs, take part-time work, go to university, start businesses, gamble, or even commit crimes. High-paying careers and smart decisions with savings, cars, and houses will help you build long-term wealth.

Relationships matter. Spend time with family and friends, keep a good relationship with your partner, and avoid constant arguments. Good relationships can give you support, money in tough times, and a place for your inheritance to go when your character dies.

Pay attention to your stats to avoid downward spirals. Very low Happiness, Health, or bad decisions can lead to depression, addiction, prison, or early death. Use doctors, therapists, and lifestyle changes to recover instead of ignoring the warnings.

When your character dies, you can leave money and assets to your family in the Will & Testament menu. You can then continue the story by playing as one of your children and carry on the family’s money, achievements, and legacy into the next generation.
